To crib or not to crib.

Sigh. You never thought you'd see this post from me, did you?

I am sort of going back and forth on whether I want to get a new crib for Baby 2.0. We sold our last one (which was pretty much never used) to my brother-in-law and his girlfriend, who are also expecting.

Part of me thinks, Man if Baby 2.0 is a better sleeper than Beanie it might be really nice to have a crib. I mean, maybe Baby 2.0 won't want to nurse all night long or need to cuddle with mommy to sleep.

The other part of me thinks (maybe even knows) that I will want to sleep with the baby, or at least in the baby's room (or the baby in our room) for the newborn stage. We've talked about using the bassinet attached to the pack and play and having it in our room. That is something I am happy with, but I wonder how well it will work out with a hubby that goes to bed at 6 o'clock at night.

We found a crib we liked and, of course, it was the most expensive one in the store. I really don't want to shell out a bunch of dough for something we're not going to use. Again. I suppose if it didn't work out to have the baby in our room because of Glenn's sleep schedule, then we could move the pack and play into the baby's room and get a twin bed. Sort of the same set-up we had in Beanie's room when she was little.

I don't know what has caused this crazy change of thought on my part. If you've read this blog for any amount of time you know I'm a pretty die hard co-sleeper. But hubby isn't and I am trying to be more accomodating of what we all want. And, let's face it, if somehow I did end up with a baby who liked to sleep through the night I wouldn't really complain. As long as nursing was established first. lol.

  1. Maybe wait to see if baby 2.0 sleeps well and then get a crib if it looks like it'll work out? Plus that'd give you some time to set aside money in a crib-fund. But you know dad'd probably buy it for you anyways. BTW, which room is going to be baby 2.0's? Is the office becoming the new nursery?

  2. We had a crib, and neither of my kids slept in it. My husband was a flyer in the Air Force at the time, so his schedule was always crazy. What worked best for us was for me to sleep in the queen bed in the guest room with the baby and then either leave them there when they fell asleep and weren't nursing so I could get a few hours here and there in my own bed, or just crash in the guest room if hubby was in a crazy time that night. Good luck!
